PSA: NYS Thruway Closed Southbound
The Department of Transportation has advised us that due to a serious crash, the New York State Thruway is currently CLOSED in the SOUTHBOUND direction between Exit 21B (Coxsackie) and Exit 21 (Catskill).
There is a local detour using US 9W south to NY 23 West.
It is anticipated this closure could last six hours. To avoid delays on the local detour route, long distance, through traffic should consider the following alternate route:
Thruway Exit 21A (Berkshire Spur) to I-90 east. Continue I-90 east onto the Massachusetts Turnpike. In Springfield Massachusetts, take I-91 south. In Hartford, Connecticut take I-84 west back to the NYS Thruway.
NOTE: Thruway has advised that they are holding tandem tractor-trailers on the Thruway until the incident clears - they will not be allowed onto the US 9W local detour.NYS Thruway Authority for more information.
